SUPPORTING STATEMENT FOR MR FARAI KAITANO

I hold a Diploma in Primary Education from the University of Zimbabwe, a Bachelor of Technology in Education Management from Technikon Pretoria Republic of South Africa and have done several UNICEF short courses on safe schools. I am a highly motivated and experienced educator with excellent administrative skills. I have worked as an educator for twenty years across a range of areas, as a classroom teacher, Deputy Primary school head and head teacher. Teacher Educator at Teachers College and Education Specialist at VSO Uganda.

My positive attitude and detail oriented approach helped to improve the Quality and Access to education in Karamoja region Uganda where I trained teachers on how to develop instructional materials using locally available materials. Trained teachers on how to do proper record keeping and data collection in schools. Trained teachers on how to plan and deliver lessons, monitor and evaluate learning outcomes. I also conducted trainings for teachers on how to manage classroom behavior. Coached the teachers on how to implement the new teaching and learning styles and strategies. I have coached the teachers and head teachers on how to conduct improved planning and self-evaluation of performance in schools.

I am extremely passionate about teaching and I am a good listener and communicator thus giving me the ability to understand children’s needs.
