Bio | Katia Mahery Rakotonirina is a young activist for the climate and the integration of young people in decision-making and the effective implementation of the fight against climate change. She was Country Focal Point for the international organization YOUNGO in the development of the World Youth Declaration on Climate Change at COY17 – youth delegate at COP 27 – COP 24 and COP 23. She is one of the initiators of the National Youth Alliance for Climate, Biodiversity and Desertification in Madagascar. A doctoral student in social work, Katia campaigns for social justice and works on climate change adaptation in rural Madagascar through migration. An independent consultant specializing in communications, strategic frameworks and finance on climate change and the environment, she has already collaborated with a number of organizations, including GIZ/PrAda, UNEP, CARE International and SAF/FJKM, and most recently with the United Nations Coordination Office for the elaboration of Country Common Analysis 2022. Katia has been a volunteer in the office of the national platform Groupe Thématique Changement Climatique since 2017. |
